The departure time of the step-up cruise is at 1.30 PM. from Wijk bij Duurstede to Cothen and back. A short break is possible in Cothen. During this break, the skipper will turn the barge around for the return trip to Wijk bij Duurstede and, if you wish, you have the opportunity to eat or drink something at the café ‘Het Molentje’ if they are open. You can also use the toilet here. For about 3 hours, we will show you the beautiful nature along the banks of the Kromme Rijn river. Along the way, we will tell you about the important role the Kromme Rijn river played in our region. We will also tell you about the beautifull countryside and the role of Dorestad in the Middle Ages, the golden age of Wijk bij Duurstede, its decline through the 80-year war and the excavations and finds here in our municipality.
